Centerfold of the Month

July 2004

Goldie (Nicknamed "Dawg.")

History: Goldie was a hand-fed bottle baby adopted from Just Strays. Carl & Sue Davis adopted her when she was 8 weeks old. Goldie is in charge of us and all the other cats in our house. We are never out of her sight. Goldie is extremely spoiled and gets away with a lot!
She loves to be on the counter and take potato peelings, cucumber peelings, onion tops and strawberry tops and runs with them.  She shows the other cats and they watch her put them under the rug!
Age: 4 years
Best Known For: Being "The Hall Monitor." Goldie lays across the hallway waiting for the other cats to go one way or the other in "her house" and they have to jump over her to do it! She loves to get them as they jump over and then the chase is on! (See pictures below.)
Dislikes: Any other cat being the top cat on the perches in the living room.

On April 20th of this year Goldie wasn't acting like herself. She wouldn't eat, drink or move and cried when we touched her. Dr. Fost at The Cat Doctor took x-rays first & saw something in her stomach. Whatever was in her stomach was poisoning her & quickly killing her. We had Dr. Fost do surgery to get the foreign object out because it wasn't moving on it's own. Goldie's stomach was opened & the object removed was a piece of trim from under a door that had hardened from her stomach acids!
Goldie had gotten a hold  of it with her claw and pulled it from the door and played with it. We are sure she didn't mean to eat it but it went down and wouldn't come out. Thanks to The Cat Doctor it didn't take long for Goldie to be up to her old self.

Click on small pictures below for a closer look!

Where the trouble began, What  Goldie swallowed. When we tell Goldie how sweet she is
the rubber door trim. (The rubber bit, not the coin.) she  kicks herself in the chin with
her back foot, over and over!

Goldie is happy to be home with her toys.

Chic is the "top cat." Goldie is not amused.
