Donessa & Marco Horsewood- Adopted by the feline
brothers Abraham & Moses : Nearly two years ago on a cold
December night only days before Christmas we had two visitors arrive in our
gated courtyard. It appeared as though these two wise men had come to visit
a manger that was constructed with hay and grape vine that housed clay
camels, sheep, goats, and shepherds, and of course Mary, Joseph, and baby “
Jesus”. Had they come to find shelter and warmth from the floodlights that
illuminated the Christmas manger scene was our first thought. They would
huddle at the entrance of the manger in quiet reverence asking for nothing
and we found ourselves drawn to their peace and sweet spirits. There was
something quite different about these two sweet spirited beings. Something
almost spiritual and mysterious at the same time.
Of course we already had seven cats in our home so it was out of the
question that we could adopt two more cats.
Somewhat mysteriously plates of kitty food and warm milk would be placed
outside daily and equally mysteriously the food would disappear. |

Abraham |
Moses |
We began to canvas the neighborhood to inquire of any lost kitties, we
posted signs on cross streets and we checked with shelters to see if anyone
had lost a black male or gray male tabby. We placed and add in the newspaper
and had some strange responses but no mommies and daddy. No one came forward
and so the door was opened and two more lost souls entered our home and now
the “New Kitty Version” of the Christmas story started with Abraham and
Moses.
It was not long before we realized that we were not adopting them but they
had put their arms around us and wrapped us up in their hearts. We have
always been “Cat People” and have always thought we knew cats however the
life lessons we have experienced in love, giving, compassion, caring, and
pure living by example from Moses and Abraham have blessed us more than
them. |

They have never said a cross word, never acted in anger, and have always put
us and their seven brother’s and sister’s before themselves. We cannot
explain from where they came, and what further purpose they will have in our
lives… but we thank God each day for these two special gifts we get to open
each day. |
|
Best Known For: Being peace-keepers. Their only real dislike is
any fighting or discontent going on among the other brother and sisters.
They have two favorites Isabella (formerly Bella) and Luke. They are their
guardian angels. They also love to give everyone a bath if you will hold
still long enough. |
