What would be considered an emergency in
my cat?
|

|
Here are some symptoms that should alert you that your cat is probably
experiencing and emergency. Frequent vomiting within a short period of time;
severe, frequent diarrhea; difficult breathing; very fast or slow
respirations (normal is 20-40 breaths/minute); very fast or slow heart rate
(feel for the heart rate on the left side of the chest just behind the
elbow-normal, at home resting rate is 100-200 beats/minute); if you see your
cat ingesting antifreeze or suspect your cat has been poisoned; straining to
urinate (in a male cat); paralysis; dangling limbs; any kind of trauma (hit
by car, fall from high rise balcony, shot, etc); injury or severe irritation
to the eyes (pawing at the eyes); burns; and copious bleeding wounds. |
