An Adult Cat Eats the Kitten's Food

This Christmas I received the cutest kitten whom both my older cat and I love to bits. The problem I’m having is that my adult cat wants to eat the kitten’s food and the kitten only wants to eat the adult cat’s food. My kitten seems to be growing just fine, but so does my adult cat who is now getting FAT. What can I do to stop my adult cat from eating the kitten food?

You are not alone. Just about everyone who gets a kitten while having an adult cat has to solve this problem. There is no easy solution, but here is a place to start: Get a plastic cat carrier that has a door that swings open in the front. Take the door off and place a dish of water and kitten food in the carrier. Face the carrier’s opening towards a solid wall. Place the carrier far enough away from the wall so the kitten can slip in but the adult cat cannot. Oh yea, place some really heavy books on top of the carrier so the adult cat cannot move the carrier. You can also put the adult cat’s food on the counter where the kitten cannot jump to get it (at least for now). Good luck!!
